Seán Walton

Seán Walton is a European Patent Attorney and Chartered UK Patent Attorney, and a partner in the firm of Mewburn Ellis LLP in Cambridge, UK. With a background in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Cambridge, his patent practice spans the range of biotechnological and medical sciences, including immunology, phage display, protein engineering, DNA repair, gene cloning, drug screens and assays, and plant manipulation.

He has extensive experience in advising on patentability, in drafting and prosecution of patent applications, in providing strategic portfolio planning and analysis, and in acting to defend or attack granted patents via the opposition procedure at the European Patent Office. He has also been involved in US and UK litigation and interference proceedings. Clients include UK and European universities and charities, many start-ups, and established biotechnology companies in the UK and USA.
