Richard Young

Richard is Managing Director of the Manchester Technology Fund, the University of Manchester's award-winning seed capital fund. MTF's mission is in two parts: to be a beacon of excellence in seed capital and to make available venture capital skills and networks at the heart of the university.

Prior to setting up MTF, Richard was Investment Director at 3i plc, the world's largest venture capital business. In his 21 years as a venture capitalist he has invested in over 40 companies, which together have created shareholder value in excess of £600 million. He is a director of iMorphics Ltd, Genemation Ltd and Perceptive Engineering Ltd as well as chairing the investment committee of the Rising Stars Growth fund, a regional venture capital fund. He also lectures on Entrepreneurship at the Manchester Business School.
