Maire Smith
Dr Smith is an independent business consultant. Innovation in the healthcare arena is Maire’s central focus and this is based on a sound platform of experience gained most recently as Director of Technology and Product Innovation in the NHS Institute for Innovation and Director of Intellectual Property in the Department of Health where she worked closely with Ministers. Previously she was CEO of Manchester Innovation Ltd and Manchester Biotech the commercialisation company and biotech incubator of the University of Manchester. Prior to this Maire had a variety of senior roles in the pharma and biotech industries. She has had extensive international experience most recently as biotechnology advisor to the Premier of South Australia. Last year she helped to open the first Business Incubator dedicated to Biotech in Australia the establishment of which she had recommended.
