Katy Kettleborough is Deputy Director of Applied Research at MRC Technology. MRC Technology is the technology transfer company affiliated to the MRC and responsible for the commercialization and exploitation of intramural MRC funded science. The Applied Research Division is responsible for “wet” tech transfer activities including incubation of start-up companies and collaborative R&D programmes with commercial partners. More recently the division has been responsible for two new initiatives aimed at adding value to early stage MRC research: Development Gap Funding, and Assay Development and HTS.
Katy also has experience in patenting and licensing and has been involved in the formation of MRC start-up companies, serving as a non-executive director on the board of two start ups.
Katy has Ph.D in Protein Engineering and a BSc in Applied Biochemistry. Prior to becoming involved in technology transfer, she was a Research Scientist in the Antibody Engineering Group at MRC Collaborative Centre.
