Janet is the partner in charge of Knowledge Transfer/Intellectual Property in Education within the legal firm of Eversheds LLP. Eversheds is a major player in the provision of legal services to the Education Sector.
Janet has a wide range of experience with intellectual property in educational institutions in particular in relation to IP policies, R&D collaborations (dealing with major collaborations under EU Framework Programmes and other schemes), IP licensing and spin-out companies. She has established IP commercialisation arrangements with funders such as IP Group. Clients include the University of Exeter, The University of Manchester, University of Newcastle and University of York.
Janet has been involved in the preparation of Researchers' Guides on IP & Confidentiality, Research Contracts, IP Licensing, Spin-Out Companies and Academic Materials and Publishing, together with an IP Workbook (all available via the Eversheds’ website). She is a regular presenter on IP in the Education Sector. She has presented for PRAXIS in relation to IP Licensing and Spin Out Companies and AURIL on FP7 Consortium Agreements. She presents for Kaplan Hawksmere on its regular "Drafting and Enforcing R&D Contracts" course.
Janet is Company Secretary of Medilink and a member of the University of Leeds Faculty of Biological Sciences Ethics Committee. Janet is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, AURIL and UNICO and has presented previously for PRAXIS in relation to Spin Out Companies and Licensing.
