Cath Whitaker
Cath is Managing Director of Team Services, a consultancy firm based in Manchester. Before starting Team Services 11 years ago, Cath worked for 12 years in industry, initially in pharmaceutical research. She then held a number of sales and marketing positions for blue–chip scientific instrumentation companies, focusing on business development in export markets.
Team Services provides market research and business planning services to the technology transfer sector. The first stage of a project is usually to assess the product concept and provide market research to identify the value, location and attractiveness of the target market sector. The next stage is to provide a business plan, based on the commercial models identified during the market research, which can be used to initiate discussions with investors.
The company also works with a large number of companies post-spinout to provide interim management and sales/marketing resource in the early stages, before they can employ dedicated staff.
