Alex Chaix graduated with two M.Sc., one in Fundamental Genetics in 1997 and the second in Environmental Study and Population Genetics in 1998 both from the University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse – France). After a year placement at the CNRS, he moved to the University of Leicester’s Department of Genetics as a Research Assistant where he recently received a PhD in Genetics. During that time, he was awarded a Medici Fellowship and subsequently moved in a knowledge transfer position. As a Partnership Coordinator for the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (GENIE), Alex was responsible for the diversification of the income portfolio by developing collaborative teaching opportunities such as CPD courses. Alex has recently been recruited by BBSRC as a Business Interface Programme Manager. In this role, Alex Chaix interacts with the council stakeholders to foster innovation through collaborative award schemes. Such interactions encompass a part-time placement with the Technology Strategy Board to increase collaboration opportunities between the two organisations.
