Rob is Director of Knowledge Transfer Policy in Medical Research Council Technology (MRCT), the company responsible for commercialisation of the MRC’s biomedical research. The company works with MRC scientists to identify research with commercial potential, facilitates research collaborations, adds value to new technologies through strategic patent protection and markets new technologies to industry.
Rob trained as a biochemist (DPhil, York 1977) then held a number of postdoctoral research posts in Paris and London as well as an Open University lectureship. In 1986 he joined MRC Head Office in what is now Research Management Group managing a range of programmes. In 1997, he moved into the MRC Technology Transfer Group and became Director of Corporate Resources when MRC Technology was formed in 2000.
In his current role, Rob is responsible for co-ordinating MRCT’s input to the development of MRC and Research Councils UK policy on Knowledge Transfer.
