Paul Docx has been actively involved in University/ industry technology transfer activities for the last twenty years in a number of capacities.
He started at Imperial College London managing the industrial research contract portfolio before moving on to help establish one of the first UK University technology transfer companies, IMPEL, now known as IC Innovations, for patenting, licensing and spin out companies.
He has been involved in setting up and running Imperial’s Science Park activities at Ascot and in South Wales (Imperial Park), attracting inward investment from Japan, Korea, Germany and France. He established a property management vehicle (Imperial Activities) for this purpose.
In 1991 he established Imperial Consultants, Imperial’s consultancy and scientific services company. With a turnover of £13m in 2004, Imperial Consultants is the UK & Europe’s leading provider of university-based academic consultancy and research support services to industry, commerce and governments worldwide.
He is a former Chairman of UNICO, the University Company Association, and was a consultant to WDA in developing the Regional Technology Plan for Wales. In 2005 he was appointed to the Board of the London Technology Network (LTN).
