Nick Munn is a former computational chemistry researcher with a PhD from the University of Cambridge (1997). From 1997 to 2007 he worked for the UK Department of Trade and Industry in a variety of roles including HE-business innovation policy and metrics, development of the current (2004) definition of R&D for tax purposes and the Roberts Review of science, technology, maths and engineering skills. In July 2007 he moved to the newly-created Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills where he is Head of Innovation Investment Policy, responsible for the policy instruments the government uses to support business innovation.
