Programme Speakers

Mary Chant

Mary qualified as a solicitor in 1986 and joined Blake Lapthorn Linnell in August 1989. Mary has a very broad base of commercial legal experience which enables her to understand the wider legal issues surrounding the particular advice she is providing. Mary now spends a significant proportion of her time advising clients on competition law and, in particular, compliance with both the UK and EU regimes. Mary's competition law advice covers a variety of commercial contracts including IP licensing arrangements.

Mary is acutely aware that commercial legal advice cannot be provided in a vacuum and her approach is to work with her clients so that she understands the commercial issues which they face and they understand the legal issues which apply. Her approach is practical and down to earth and she takes an active interest in her clients' businesses. She is a regular speaker at Blake Lapthorn Linnell seminars.

For the last seven and a half years Mary has been a Governor of Bournemouth University giving her an insight into Higher Education issues including the relationships with spin off companies.
