Martin Hussey
Martin Hussey is the Programme Manager for the competence Centres programme in Enterprise Ireland. This joint Enterprise Ireland/IDA programme is designed to encourage industry-led collaborative research in Ireland. The programme is based on the SSTI and was launched in 2007, with the first Competence Centres to be established in 2008. As the Competence Centres are to focus on market-led strategic research through collaboration with Research Performing Organisations there are clearly significant implications for the commercialisation of Intellectual Property. Martin previously worked as a Researcher and Centre Manager for CMM and Materials Ireland, based in UCD, but charged with working with industry to deliver R&D projects and to assist in the commercialisation of outputs from research projects within the Mechanical Engineering Department in UCD. He is a mechanical engineer by training and has worked in industry both in Ireland and the UK.
