Katie joined the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in 2006 as a Business Interaction Support Manager within the Business and Innovation Unit. Her role involves encouraging collaborative R&D and knowledge transfer through increasing interactions between the science base, industry and other key stakeholders. Prior to joining BBSRC Katie was a research scientist at Rothamsted Research, Harpenden funded through Defra's Wheat Genetic Improvement Network.
Katie graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc in Applied Biology. She went on to complete a Phd, researching the molecular basis of heavy metal uptake in plants, at Rothamsted Research.
