Jon Barrett
Jon Barrett is Director of Commercial and Enterprise Development at Liverpool John Moores University, responsible for maximising mutually beneficial knowledge transfer, in all its forms, between the University and Industry. With seventeen years experience, predominantly in change management roles, in the private sector he joined the University in November 2004 with a brief to build an infrastructure that would enable the maximisation both of knowledge transfer volume and return on investment from that activity for the University, its Industry clients, and ultimately for the students of the University. Over the last three and a half years he has built the business development centre team and initiated a team of School/departmental ‘enterprise champions’ to form a core infrastructure for knowledge transfer activity. During this period knowledge transfer activity at the University has more than doubled. He has conducted research into University-Industry infrastructure requirements for knowledge transfer. He has recently facilitated the merger of four Citizens Advice Bureaux and is Chairman of the merged organisation, and is also a Director of a number of University companies.
