Ian Short

Ian is a senior manager in KPMG’s corporate tax department in Manchester and leads KPMG’s corporate tax offering to the education sector in the UK. This includes the delivery of corporate tax compliance services to over 40 universities across the UK, together with advisory services to those and other clients in the sector.

Ian has worked with a broad range of clients in the HE sector, predominantly in the North and Midlands (including the University of Manchester, the University of Sheffield and the University of Nottingham) but also across the UK, providing both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. He has provided advice on all areas of corporate tax risk relating to universities and their groups, including estates issues, third stream activities (including the exploitation of intellectual property and IP framework agreements) and the issues arising from the use of subsidiary structures including investment/funding policies, transfer pricing and gift aid issues.

He has presented at BUFDG and other sector conferences, as well as KPMG seminars, both external and internal.
