David Grahame graduated from the University of St Andrews in 1976 and ran his own businesses in Scotland for several years before moving to Glasgow in 1990, as Head of Business Development at the local enterprise agency. There he developed the LINC business angel initiative, one of the first in Europe, and when LINC Scotland was spun out as a separate company in 1994, he became its first Chief Executive. Since then LINC has facilitated almost 400 investment deals for fast growing Scottish companies, and also pioneered initiatives in investment readiness, syndicate building and sustainable intervention, making it (according to several independent reports) one of the most effective networks of its kind in Europe.
He was an early member of the board of EBAN (The European Business Angels Network) and currently serves on the Bank of England Small Firms Consultation Group, the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust, and the advisory boards of CONNECT Scotland and Technology Ventures Scotland. In 2003 he was made an OBE for services to entrepreneurship.
