Andrew Forbes

David Maddison formed Maddison Associates in 1982, which became Maddison Limited in 1986; Andrew Forbes worked with David up to 1990 and after thirteen years spent working in the automotive industry re-joined the company.

Maddison Limited is now a leading UK product design and development consultancy specialising in medical, scientific, building and electronic products. It provides both stylish and commercially successful design solutions to an international list of clients, including such major companies as Johnson & Johnson Healthcare and Procter & Gamble.

Maddison’s reputation is based on ability to both innovate and engineer products to meet end user, marketing and technical constraints. As a result of this, Maddison has won several awards for the development of commercially successful products in different market sectors, including Medical Futures ‘Best Diagnostic Innovation’ Award (2003) for the ‘Firstburst Urine Collector’ on behalf of University of Cambridge and Innovation in the use of Plastics (Horner Award) for the Heat Exchanger designed for Vent Axia Ltd.

The Maddison offices, based in Fittleworth, West Sussex, include both studio and workshop facilities and provide a comprehensive development service to international clients and European companies.

Andrew is a ‘hands-on’ design engineer using SolidWorks, an advanced 3D CAD package; his varied background enables him to draw on a broad range of technologies which are applied to each development as required. He has involvement at most stages of a project; his strong areas include engineering concept generation, prototype development and transition to production. He has a senior role within the company, managing project resources, budgets and timescales and has recently been made a director.
